Frequently asked questions
Do you take my insurance?
We are in-network with most major insurance providers in Minnesota. For a full list of Insurance we accept (embed link to insurance information).
Do I need a referral?
You do not need a referral to be seen at LMHC unless your insurance requires it.
What happens at the first session?
The first session is typically called an intake session or a diagnostic evaluation. Your clinician will ask questions about yourself, your history, and what brought you to therapy at this time. This evaluation generally takes between 1 to 3 sessions and results in a treatment plan that outlines agreed upon goals and can be used to assess the progress of your therapy.
How do I get in touch with my clinician?
Our clinicians are often not immediately available by phone. Clinicians do not answer their phones when they are with a client. You can leave a message with our admin team, Monday-Friday, 9 am - 4 pm. LMHC has a 24-hour answering service where you can leave a message at any other time. Every effort will be made to return your call the same day, except holidays and weekends. If you are difficult to reach, please leave times when you will be available.
In the event of a mental health crisis, please call 988, go to your local emergency room, or call your primary physician.
